7 ways to make child-safe kitchen!




As we know that kitchen is the heart of the home, and families often spend a lot of time there so why not kids. Curious toddlers love to explore. You can not stop them to visit this wonderland with delicious aroma and colorful things places around. It's also one of the more challenging rooms in the house to childproof because a number of dangers lurk in every kitchen. But with proper planning, you can make the kitchen safe for your baby.

Electricity & Appliance Safety :
Kids attracted with the luminous power indicators, switched and electronic’s knobs. Make sure all the appliances switch height is out of your kid's approach. Make sure to unplug all appliances like toaster, the mixture after use. Install switched back side of the major appliance like freeze, built in oven, chimney, and dishwasher. Make sure to have a separate main switch for a kitchen to instantly cut off power in case of danger.

Fire and Gas Safety :
If possible and available, install a hob safety grill to prevent your kid approaching directly to flame. If you are using 4 burners gas stove, use back side burners as much possible. Keep the handle of pot and pan towards side or back, avoiding keeping front side, this may be the first contact point for curious kids. Don’t forget to install a domestic fire extinguisher in the kitchen.

Drawer & Door Safety:
Long handles, big open drawers attract kids to explore. They can try to climb with the help of big handles and open drawers. Keep your kitchen handle slim or handleless. Keep your drawer mechanism soft close. Soft close drawer needs more force to open, this will keep your kid less interested. Use magnetic catcher for swing door in the base unit, this will make hard for a kid to open.

Sink and Trash Safety:
The sink is a very interesting area, it gives water and lots of colorful chemical to play. Don’t leave knives in the sink. Don’t keep harsh cleaning chemical in easy approach. Put a lid on your dustbin. Keep recyclable cans and bottles in bins or bags stored out of your child's reach. Dispose of anything else that's dangerous – such as a sharp metal, aluminum foil, can lid or broken glass – by immediately taking it out to the dustbin. Keep soft plastic bag away, this can cause suffocation.

Glass & Chinaware Safety:
Keep all glass and chinaware crockery away from kids approach. Wall unit is the best for glass products. Don’t design kitchen with base drawer in glass fronts. Don’t keep attractive food item and fruits in a glass bowl on the countertop.

Medicine and Hard Chemicals Safety:
A kitchen is a place where lots of chemicals can be found, cleaning agents, medicines and some more related to cooking like vinegar and spicy powders. Make sure to keep these products away from kids. Keep your freeze lock-in you have some medicine stored in that. Keep such product in the tight container and make sure their lid is not easy to open.

Process & Habit Safety:
When carrying a hot food, water or oil in one hand, don't attempt to hold your baby with the other. Make sure you know where your baby is when you're carrying something hot towards sink or oven so you don’t trip to baby accidentally. Keep a high chair in the kitchen and keep baby strapped. Keep him busy with toys and never leave him unattended. After the age of 5 years, involve the kid in small harmless activities and educated about the limits of using the kitchen of his/her age.
